Luiza Sales started her career in music when she was only 8, playing the violin and singing in choirs. But when she started her degree in Music Education at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (Unirio), she fell in love with brazilian music and began her path as a singer and songwriter. First, singing samba in Lapa, she was one of the finalists of Carioca da Gema's new talents contest. After that she also won prizes and performed in music festivals in Brazil. For three years she performed in various stages in Rio de Janeiro, playing forró and samba.
In 2012 she released her first CD, "Breve Leveza". In the repertoire, songs written by young composers from Rio de Janeiro and also songs written by Luiza Sales, Rosa Passos and Djavan. Brazilian styles such as samba, bossa nova and baião appear in this diverse and eclectic album, produced by Daniel Garcia, who flew from LA to Rio just to work with Luiza. She toured around Brazil, playing in different stages in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Belo Horizonte.
Also in 2012, as a member of the vocal a cappella sextet Ordinarius, she released the CD "Ordinarius".This album was chosen by the brazilian specialized website "O Embrulhador" as one of the Best 100 Albums in 2012 and also indicated to Prêmio da Música Brasileira. In 2013, the group toured in Germany, performing in Frankfurt and doing brazilian vocal music workshops with german choirs.
In 2013, Luiza won the Berklee Lollapalooza Scholarship and now joins talented musicians from 31 different countries as a student of the Masters in Contemporary Performance Program at Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain.
